This conference brings together researchers, instructors, and health professionals to share evidence-based strategies that support healthy aging and active living.
Some of the sessions I’m especially looking forward to include:

- Protein Requirements for Active Older Adults with Jessica White, focusing on protein needs, recovery, and strategies that may help prevent Sarcopenia.

- Exercise for Brain Health in Aging with Jennifer Heisz, highlighting research from the NeuroFit Lab on how physical activity and lifestyle habits influence cognition, dementia risk, and brain resilience.
- Aerobic Exercise Training After a Cardiac Event with Daniel Keir, examining exercise intensity and how to determine the most effective aerobic training dose for individuals with coronary artery disease.
- Scaling Smart with Anne Cooke, offering practical strategies for adapting more advanced exercise routines for older adults with varying fitness and mobility levels.

Speaking at the Adaptive Exercise Class at Mohawk College
I’m honored to once again be attending the Adaptive Exercise class at Mohawk College in the Health, Wellness, and Fitness program, where I am a proud graduate.
On Wednesday, March 25, I will be joined by my friend Spencer, who is also a graduate of the program, as we speak with students about our experiences in the fitness industry and our time in the program.
During the session, we will share our individual journeys since graduating and discuss the different career paths available in the health and fitness field.
I will be speaking about my personal experiences as a person living with vision loss while working as a Personal Training Specialist, Indoor Cycling Instructor, and Seniors Fitness Instructor. I will also discuss my work as the sole proprietor of LAZER FITTNESS, a fully inclusive personal training and group fitness business with a special emphasis on supporting the 55+ population, as well as my work as a fitness instructor with the City of Hamilton.
Spencer will be sharing his experiences since graduating from Mohawk College, including his business, his time in the program, and his work with the City of Brantford.
Opportunities like this are a great way to give back to the program, connect with future fitness professionals, answer questions, and share our passion for health and fitness.
Attending the Accessibility Awareness Day Fair at Mohawk College
I’m looking forward to attending the Accessibility Awareness Day Fair on Tuesday, March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the MCACES Learning Link at Mohawk College Fennell Campus (135 Fennell Avenue West) in Hamilton.
At the event, I will be representing LAZER FITTNESS with an information table where I will be:
- Sharing information about the programs and services offered through LAZER FITTNESS
• Handing out business cards
• Welcoming members of the public and answering general questions about fitness, healthy aging, and staying active
I will also be demonstrating some of the adaptive equipment I use, including:
- A talking calculator
• A tactile measuring tape
• A talking blood pressure monitor, with the opportunity for visitors to check their blood pressure and heart rate
This free community event provides an opportunity for the public to connect with local organizations, learn more about accessibility, and explore the programs and services offered at Mohawk College.
I’m looking forward to supporting health, wellness, accessibility, and community fitness.
If you’re attending the event, feel free to stop by the LAZER FITTNESS table to say hello, introduce yourself, and learn more.
